Hi, everybody!
My name is Franjho. I read the book by David de Angelis and me is very interesting and compelling.
I would refer my case. In 2003 I suffered retinal tears in both eyes and I had to have nine (9) Laser therapy interventions, but since then I have "stable", but should change my glasses again because my myopia has increased ...Again! (as expected ...).
Currently, I have eleven (11) diopters in each eye (approximately) and astigmatism (2 or 2.5 in each eye, too). My question is simple. In a paragraph of the book, David de Angelis indicates that it is not advisable for someone like me (who has suffered retinal detachment), perform the maximum strength exercises because the structure of the eye is conprometida and can be dangerous.
What options do I have? May not be even more dangerous to have to raise my glasses again, as I increase the myopia (or yes) and therefore may still deformed eyes and even produce new tears? What do you advise me? If you do not strengthen my eyes with the exercises, eventually even weaker. How can we improve and produce more damage in my eyes?
Thank you for your answers.

I would like to inform you that translation of the book in French (tredaniel edition) is VERY VERY BAD!!
There are lost of mistakes in the translation in French, so bad translation that often we can't understand the meaning (I have the habit to read scientific books). The worst is that in one page it is said 'blank', in another the same is said 'black'. When we arrives on the page about the exercises and the annex about exercises.... we don't understand what exactly doing...
The worst is that the exercises are so simple...and we don't understand it in the french book.

Really, It's the first time I read a book with a so wrong translate.
I think it's a problem with Trédaniel edition because I have another book from them and it's the same problem: wrong translation.

Hi,

I have hyperopia, astigmatic and maybe longsighted...
I am going to start the method ( I have the book, and red the forum).
My right eye is weak...so weak that I actually see almost only with the left one.
But I don't want to "lose" my right eye...

David de angelis proposes to do first exercises with the weak eyes until he reaches the same level that the best eye. Then I go on with exercises for the two eyes together.
OK, I undertand.

My questions:

1. which exercises have I to do only with the weak eye first ?
All (stretching and CRB-defocus).... Or only CRB-defocus, because the stretching are made to exercises both eyes together, isn't it ?

2. When I look only with the weak eye (the right one)...all is distorted... I am afraid that if I train my brain to see with the two eyes... My vision will be worst than now...because I'll see with the right eyes which see distorted...
Or will the exercises make my worst eye see better, without distortions ?

Thanks a lot !

I was wondering, since many of you mention it in your posts, what is the difference between training with undercorrected lenses vs. training with plus lenses (either on top of your current prescribed glasses or plus glasses alone)? With higher myopia the book recommends plus over minus glasses during CRB, with lower, plus glasses only.

Technically speaking, wouldn't it be wrong to say that having exactly the same diopter combination of lenses, e.g. 1) -3 only or 2) -5 with +2 on top, the plus lenses have a more beneficial effect on the myopic eye? Or is the effect exactly the same? Having read some of the articles that David posted on the great results of plus lenses, I am tempted to think that undercorrections are best for avoiding near point stress (e.g. at work where it would be silly to wear plus glasses over minus ones ;)), while plus glasses actually stimulate the eye more and should, therefore, be used while CRB, if your myopia isn't severe?

I think I've been doing pvs wrong. While reading some past posts, I noticed there's something different between Undercorrection and training lenses. I thought they both meant lenses used during crb. From what I heard Now, Undercorrection is constantly worn but only minus one your current prescription. Training is used during crb and about minus two your current prescription. Can someone please confirm?

Please reply respectfully. In a previous post of mine, a lot of the comments were ridiculing and rude. I understand that some of my questiOns may seem basic but thy are confusing to me. Please be respectful when replying.

Hi everyone,
I have been doing the power vision system for two and a half months. Unfortunately I have not seen any results yet.The odd thing is that I have already moved on from practising defocus without any glasses at all to wearing positive lenses 1.50 but I still wear my prescried glasses with no problem which probably means no improvement .Any explanation to this?
Anyway, considering the above I have decided to take more decisive steps. Since my eyes seem to refuse to cooperate I shall make them to. I want to buy undercorrection and start wearing it all day instead of my prescribed glasses until my myopia follows a drop. I have mentioned it in one of my last threads and in the answer I received I was advised not to because it would exhaust my eyes. However I really don't mind feeling them tired or having some headaches. I just want to finally make some progress, so what I am asking is : Would that be harmful for my eyes or just inconvenient?
Thank you for your time. Please do take into carefull consideration my situation. I would appreciate any justified opinion.

My myopia since I started PVS: 2.50 right eye and 2.75 left eye.

Hello everyone,

I read the book last summer and finally this week, my boyfriend and I started the exercises. I watched the videos and now I wonder: For the first three weeks before starting the active defocus exercises, how many of the stretching exercises I should do. All three videos (cyclorotations with eyes open and closed and stretching fixing at one point) say you should do ten rotations one side and ten rotations on the other on alternate days. Does that mean on -say- Monday, Wednesday, Friday we do all those three exercises for three weeks?
Additionally, I'd like to know if there is any advice specifically for far-sighted people (like me), since the book is mainly focused (pun intended :-) on near-sightedness.
Thank you.

Hi!

I wanted to report on the progress I have made so far using PVS and other methods.

I am a 35 years old male and have been wearing glasses since the age of 10. I started eye training in September 2011. I went through quite a few books and web sites before I found PVS, by far the best book on the topic.

Shortly after starting eye training I went to the optometrist (Fielmann, a German discounter) to know exactly where I started from. My glasses were measured as follows:
Right eye: -5,25 (and some astigmatism)
Left eye: -5,75 (and some astigmatism)

I made an eye test at the same time, which lead to the following result:
Right: -5,25 Cyl: -0,5 175°
Left: -5,25 Cyl: -0,25 180°

So my left eye had improved! Great! I ordered new glasses but asked for only -5D in correction so as to let my eyes some room for improvement. I did not know about PVS by the time and just practised eye stretching and avoided using my glasses as often as possible.

More or less 2 weeks later I went back to the optician because my eyes were aching when wearing my glasses. So they checked my eyes:
Right: -4,5 Cyl: -0,5 175°
Left: -4,5 Cyl: -0,25 175°
They assumed they had measured my eyes wrongly and so I was offered new glasses at no costs. I was very enthousiast I had been able to improve so clearly in just a few days. I forgot to order glasses with a small undercorrection.

I discovered PVS and made some modifications to my training routine. More specificaly I ordered less powerful training glasses in the internet for a fraction of the price I had paid even at the discount optician.

Last week I went to the same optician for an eye test. The result:
Right: -4,25 Cyl: -1 170°
Left: -4,25 Cyl: -1 10°

I was quite disappointed I had only improved by 0,25D in more than 6 months hard training and that had been at the cost of more astigmatism. I was also surprised by the reaction of the lady who tested my eyes: she said I had a high level of myopia (well, according to Wikipedia this is rather mid field), she could barely believe I made it without my glasses to the shop and was rather unfriendly. When I wanted to pay for the test, I was told it was free, which is maybe the reason she was not very friendly (since she wouldn't be able to sell me anything). I was a little bit sceptical though... So I went to another optician and here are the results of a second test made less than one hour after the previous one:
Right: -4 Cyl: -0,5 90°
Left: -4 Cyl: -0,75 20°

This test cost me 27 euros, which is fine. The results are also more pleasant since they show a larger improvement. What surprises me though is the difference between them, especially for the astigmatism, which is an objective measurement. The axis for the right eye is completely different between both tests, which were done within one hour. For the diopters there is a certain level of subjectivity but for the astigmatism this is measured by a scan of the cornea... Quite surprising...

I am a bit disappointed that progress had slowed down so much after an initial period of very fast improvement. But in any case I see that the direction is positive. I also notice that I am able to read more things without my glasses than I could some months ago. In any case I strongly doubt the improvement rates reported by Norbekov (0,25D per day for the slow improvers) or Leo Angart (between 0,5 and 1D per month).

As to the astigmatism I can easily figure out that it may increase at times since retinal adaption may occur unevenly. Or maybe intra occular pressure dropped, which may be fine in the end. Seems volatile though. Maybe it is not really worth much consideration from my part at this stage.

In any case I'll go on exercising my eyes. I'll see how much time it takes to definitely drop my glasses but do not put myself under pressure to reach a given goal in a given period of time.

Wish you all good luck

Hi there, I bought and read the book ... need some help starting the program and understanding the training. Here's my case:

me (37 yrs old) = (Left) -8.0 (Right) -9.0
wife (38 yrs old) = (Left) -11.0 (Right) -11.5
son (5 yrs old!!!) = (Left) -4.0 (Right) -4.5
daughter (8 yrs old) = (Left) -2.0 (Right) -0.75 (Astig 250)

Me and wife VERY worried having retinal detachments risks in future and trying our best to find ways treating our condition (before its too late). We both consulted top ophthalmologists and retinal surgeons to check and diagnosed with lattice (no holes, detachments or tears yet). I believe our extensive use of computers for work and reading caused all this. Reading your book brings some hope and we're praying axial myopia can be reversed ... at least enough to prevent retinal issues or glaucoma. We don't have any other medical condition and exercise very regularly (I just started Yoga too).

Both my kids using MyoVision lenses from Zeiss now (http://vision.zeiss.com/vision/en_sg...a-control.html) ... these are progressive lenses meant to reduce myopia increase. There are other alternatives like OrthoK or Atropine drops but using them on young kids very risky. Both kids are healthy otherwise with no medical condition. We are from Asian origin and notice more Asian kids wearing glasses so early these days in region (Singapore and Hong Kong almost 80% wear glasses). They both don't watch much TV or play video games but like their parents ... read a lot. We try to spend 90 mins each day outdoors now (http://synapse.princeton.edu/~sam/ou...yopia_Rose.pdf)

Sorry for the long email but we've got nowhere else to go. So many bleak answers from medical doctors and optometrists leave us at the verge of depression. Here's my question:

1. what lense power should me and wife start with for training??
2. don't really understand the training from book ... is there youtube link or DVD for this??
3. how to start my kids on these exercises??
4. can axial length shorten with these steps?? can we join any clinical study group?
5. any specific supplements to take?? Lutein, Zeaxanthin, fish oil, bilberry, goji berry etc??

Appreciate ANY feedback and help.

¿Qué me aconsejáis vosotros? Si no fortalezco mis ojos con los ejercicios, acabarán aún más débiles. ¿Cómo hacer para mejorar y no producir más daños en mis ojos?
Gracias por vuestras respuestas.
Un saludo.
